SWING WEIGHT EXPLAINED: BEYOND STATIC STATS

THE ILLUSION OF WEIGHT

You pick up two rackets. They both weigh exactly 300 grams. But when you swing them, one feels like a feather and the other feels like a sledgehammer. Welcome to swing weight.

STATIC VS. SWING WEIGHT

Static weight is what the racket weighs on a scale. Swing weight is how heavy the racket feels in motion. This is entirely determined by the racket's balance point.

HEAD-HEAVY = MASSIVE PLOW-THROUGH

If the weight is pushed toward the head of the racket, the swing weight goes up. It is harder to get moving, but once it's in motion, it crushes through the ball like a freight train. Baseline grinders love high swing weights for ultimate stability.

HEAD-LIGHT = LIGHTNING FAST

If the weight is closer to the handle, the swing weight drops. The racket whips through the air incredibly fast, making it easy to generate racket head speed for spin, and lightning-quick for reflex volleys at the net. Know your metrics, know your weapon.
